Came across this on Reddit - What is, in your opinon, the most powerful music you have ever listened to?

I've never thought of music as being powerful, but having sampled a number of songs on the thread above, I think I understand what they mean. Personally, theme songs from movies (songs from The Last Samurai, Gladiator, or maybe just Hans Zimmer come to mind) would probably be my picks for powerful music. Anyway, I enjoyed the songs mentioned in the thread (discovered new ones from genres I don't normally listen to), and thought you might too

Edit: it's also very interesting to see listen to what people consider powerful. The songs run the gamut from classical to rock to oldies, but all very good

I'm looking for something supernatural, in the Ring / 1408 genre, but I'm up for anything horror. I've been perusing Netflix and found a gem called "Grave Encounters" which I highly recommend. Yellowbrickroad was also pretty good, albeit it had no ending of any relevance. I've yet to find another really good one out of that garbage heap they have. Shoot a list out here and I'll mark it seen/unseen and if you make my cut.

So, my neighbor and I are holding a contest to see who can play music the loudest at 3am because they're idiots and don't know how to be considerate at 3am and realise I have work at 11am. I plan on holding the contest until someone calls the cops on one of us or they realise that it's 3am. Right now, I'm using some lovely dubstep. WUB WUB WUB WOooWOOoOoowoOWOowoob. I just need a subwoofer like them. What is with them and their loud music and lovin'.

Time for a New Wireless Router

My router is starting to play the "Gonna Drop Your Connection Randomly For 30 Seconds to a Minute" song.

I'd prefer to get a new router before the followup hit "Dropping Your Connection All The Time for Minutes At A Time" starts playing.

Five minutes skimming the interwebs and I see some of the same routers from 6-7 years ago still being sold new; which is a little puzzling...

I know I know.. I imagine some people are saying wth!?!?!?!?! Well, what I did was review how much data that I use on a monthly basis over the last 6 months and I rarely if ever go over 200MB in a month. I am always piggy backing off work Wifi or I am using my wifi at home. The only time I use data is on my drive (Trapster) and maybe look at Facebook while out to lunch.

So this is what I did in full. I am upgrading to the new Galaxy Nexus unlocked phone that google is selling at google.com/nexus.

Straighttalk.com are now selling SIM cards for phones that you already have and depending on your area, you can go with either a SIM that uses the T-mobile network or the AT&T network. AT&T has the better network if not necessarily the fastest. StraightTalk will give me HSPA+ speeds, unlimited texting and voice for $45 a month. And if it sucks, I will switch over to T-mobile directly or with AT&T. My wife and I both have a smart phone with Verizon and the total cost is $190 a month! How insane is that to pay for mobile phone? That is around $95 each after taxes. At $45 a month I cut my bill in half and I will still not be locked into a contract.

From what I've seen, the AT&T network and even T-mobile have decent coverage in my area and they both cover my commute each day. I will know in the next few days when I get all of my stuff. The phone tomorrow; the SIM on Monday I think. Wish me luck! I hope it works!

So a buddy of mine and I have started to write songs together, and we've decided to call ourselves The Oat Poets. If you can figure out why, good for you. There's a huge hint on our website.

Anyway, we've chosen to release 2 songs a month (one on the 15th (possibly the 14th in February), and one on the last day). So far we're up to 2. I posted the other one already on my other website, and that one is titled 'Oh Hi Lisa', a song about the movie 'The Room'. Today, we came out with our second one, a song called 'Mine Me a New Woman', which is a song based off MineCraft, which I'm sure a lot of you have played. Also released today was a video we made for 'Oh Hi Lisa', which just strings together some of the more entertaining clips from the movie. We have a couple other ideas coming together, and we're going to try and make a video for 'Mine Me a New Woman' as well, though there's no set release date. Hopefully mid-February.

Have looked at their possible solutions, but to no avail and besides, Valve/Steam I find are so convoluted with their answers, that anything they suggest never really sorts this problem out.

I'm looking to sell my gently-used EVGA GTX 570 Superclocked, WITH BACKPLATE. Supposedly the backplate helps with the cooling, but even if it doesn't it looks darn cool.

I don't NEED to sell it, but I kind of want to as I'm upgrading some other stuff now that life things have calmed down.

It's worked flawlessly since I installed it roughly 8 months ago, and hasn't been further overclocked or otherwise abused in any way. Since I got busy during much of that time and neglected my gaming rig, I think it probably has a total of 150-200 total gaming hours on it (in other words, about the amount of time you have spent with Skyrim). I still have all the original packaging and such that came with it, and had it registered with EVGA upon purchase.

Asking $275 shipped, firm.

That's about $50 off new, for an almost NIB graphics card.

p.s. - INB4"CIPC": YES, it can play Crysis on Ultra settings as well as Batman:AC(with physx enabled and high settings) among other things.

So, I splurged and bought an SSD. I have an older motherboard which doesn't have SATA 3 support which gave me two options, buying a PCI-e add-on card and then an SATA 3 SSD or I could just buy a PCI-e SSD. I decided to go the more expensive but faster route, the PCI-e SSD. Well, it was kind of more expensive, buying a good SATA 3 add-on card is pretty expensive.

I bought the RevoDrive 3 240gb. It was around $550 (inorite?) and is really the last upgrade I wanted to do to my PC before I held off on updating for a while. The rest of my PC is from around early 2009 (i7 920, GTX 480 6gb DDR 3 memory), I've been wanting an SSD since then but never had the cash on hand until now.

I know people are all like, "oh my, windows starts so fast!" and you know what? They are totally right! From seeing the Windows logo to my computer being done starting with all programs loaded (Steam, Skype, Logitech stuff, Daemon Tools, EVGA Precision, FiTbit tracker, Kasperksy, Nvidia Settings thing, some motherboard sound junk) It takes about 3-5 seconds. File copying is around 160mb/s, my old hard-drive copied at around 30mb/s when it was settled. Most programs start near instantly and I'm usually the first or second person to load levels in MP.

The rated transfer speed is 1000mb read and 900mb write.

As you can see from the Transfer Rate at the bottom this makes my new drive about... ummm.... carry the one...uhhh.... A BILLION TIMES faster!

The ST3300822AS have lasted 6 years. That's 1 year past warranty in a 6 drive raid 5 on a Promise SuperTrack EX8350. One failed about 3 months ago so I think its time to rebuild.

I currently run Openfiler_x64 on AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3000+ (1.8 GHz) and 2GB ram. Maxtor 6L300R0 as a boot drive.

For the last year I have been annoyed by my secondary hard drive taking 10-15 seconds to wake up every time I access it. I did some research a while back and through that came to the conclusion that it was the "Green Drive" that I got. Turns out it's a power setting.

To stop it from sleeping go to Control panel/ power settings/ then click change plan settings/ advanced power settings / choose the drop down under hard drives and change it to never. voila! No more sleepy drive.

Here's the scenario:

Our business is getting set to replace our aging server with a new, shiny one with some seriously ballsy power. Old server is running Server 2003 Standard SP2, new one will be Server 2008 R2. Current server roles are file server, application server, RA/VPN server, domain controller, and DNS server. There are 25 computers/users in the network, single site (local) only.

I only recently have gotten into studying server configuration and management (looking to get MS cert in Server 2008 admin), but this upgrade can't wait for me to finish all that (AD DS book alone is taking forever to get through). Reading up on the process of migrating the AD DS and DNS server from the old to the new is starting to make my head swim. Anyone have any tips/suggestions for accomplishing this task? I'm reading MS knowledgebase articles, but I figured feedback from someone who has done such a thing would be helpful as well.

Hey guys,

I was Googling around trying to find ways to install my steam games onto my SSD so i would take advantage of the performance increase, and I found this program; http://www.traynier....ware/steammover . its kinda old but it works well and i was able to easily move my games over to my other SSD.
basically what it does is makes a Symlink junction over to your SSD so that steam "thinks" your games are still on your normal drive, but are instead in the other faster one.

Thought i'd share this with all the Guys with fast gaming rigs.
nice way to get an extra 10-20% more performance with your blazing fast hardware.

Couldn't really find any other sub-forum to post this in, so I guess this is the one to put this one.

At the other forum I'm at, someone started a thread like this one, so I thought I would do the same here. It's just basically showing off your desktop background. I just finally changed mine after recently buying this computer a month ago, but I'm having a hard time staying with one that I really like. ;_;

So, I'm sure some of you have some of your quirks of your neighborhood. This is the second... "bad" neighborhood I have lived in. Now, what's making me want to make this thread is because in the past three nights, there have been several cops at my apartment.

The first night seven cops showed up at my door. SEVEN. Apparently they were looking for an "Alphonso/Alfonzo". Got news that he lived in the same complex as me. Never heard of him. But why would they need seven cops just to look for one guy? It somewhat worried me.

Now, two nights later, when I get home after having evening class, I see an ambulance and two cop cars parked in front of my complex. I... have no idea why. First with those seven cops, and now this. ._. I still have no idea what is going on. ;_; I think I should have a right to know if there is someone dangerous living in the same building as me. ;A;

And as for my first bad neighborhood, had several stabbings and shootings nearby. ._. One shooting was at my house. Oh joy.

Seriously, what is with people today with being wanted by cops, wanting to commit crimes like this... e_e

Anyways, what are the quirks of your neighborhood? (both good and bad) mine are typically bad because of my horrible, noisy neighbors. x_x (I'm also the only white person in this neighborhood, so everyone stares at me... )
